Over 100 Years with the the City of Needles!

The City’s rich history began when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway crossed over the Colorado River in 1883. In 1908, El Garces was built to accommodate the comfort requirements of the passengers as they passed through the greater southwest.

In the early 1920’s, our Historic Route 66 traversed across the USA, with the El Garces in Needles, California as the premier Gold-Rush State town that easterners would lay eyes upon on their way to the coast.

Today the railroad still moves goods and services from the coastal cities to the eastern United States, El Garces has been restored and you can still drive on the old Route 66 highway in downtown Needles.

The members of the Needles Chamber share this history and are committed to building business partners with the city, the towns and communities around the tri-state area, and investors.
